About Orishaba Melon

In the rolling green hills of Nyamatsinda village in Rushaga, Uganda, lives a bright-eyed boy with an infectious smile and a heart full of curiosity, Orishaba Melon, affectionately known as Magarere.

At just 9 years old, Melon is already known in his community for his playful spirit and gentle nature. He spends his days helping around the home, pretending to care for younger children like a loving mother, and joyfully digging in the soil around his house, imitating the hard work he sees his parents do daily.

Melon lives with his parents, Magezi Julius, who works tirelessly as a cleaner, and Kemigisha Anakileti, a peasant farmer who tends to their small garden to feed the family. Despite their determination and resilience, the family struggles to make ends meet. Every day is a balancing act between providing basic needs and ensuring their children receive an education.

Melon is currently enrolled in Baby Class at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, a small but vital school built near his village to serve children like him. Education is a rare and precious gift in Nyamatsinda, a pathway out of poverty and a door to endless possibilities. Melon is eager to learn and dreams of a brighter future where he can help his family and uplift his community.

He is the youngest of four siblings: Owamani Brian, Akanagarukamu Brenda, and Nabasa Rajab. While the family remains united and full of love, the burden of providing for so many often means sacrifices must be made; education is one of the first things to go when money is tight.

That’s where you come in.

By sponsoring Melon, you’re not just helping one child go to school—you’re investing in a future filled with potential, hope, and change. Your support will ensure Melon receives consistent access to education, nutritious meals, school supplies, and the encouragement he needs to thrive.

Melon’s smile is bright, his heart is kind, and his dreams are big. All he needs is someone to believe in him.

Will you be the reason Melon keeps smiling and dreaming?
