About Niwabeine Timothy

In the quiet hills of Nyamatsinda village in Rushaga, Kisoro, Uganda, lives a little boy with a big imagination and an even bigger heart, Niwabine Timothy, lovingly known by his nickname Tiimo.

At just 7 years old, Timothy is already showing signs of being a resourceful and determined young boy. When he’s not at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, you’ll find him helping his parents in the garden, digging with a small hoe nearly his size. His favorite pastime? Crafting toy cars out of scraps he finds around the village, wheels made from bottle caps, axles from sticks, and a whole lot of creativity.

Timothy lives with his parents, Bayenda Sosteen and Tumubwene Jackline, both hardworking peasants who do their best to provide for their family from the little they earn through subsistence farming. Life is not easy, and it becomes even more challenging as his mother, Jackline, lives with a hearing impairment. This condition makes communication and caregiving harder for her in their rural setting.

Timothy is the youngest of five children, with three older siblings: Bridget, Prisca, Innocent, and Tweshengyereze. Their love is abundant, but their resources are not. Often, they must make hard choices between food, school supplies, and basic healthcare.

Despite the odds, Timothy wakes up daily with joy and eagerness to learn. He recently enrolled in the Baby Class at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, a beacon of hope planted near his village. He walks to school with a big smile, carrying his tiny backpack and the dreams of a brighter tomorrow.

What makes Timothy special?

It’s his spirit, his ability to turn sticks into cars, dirt into fun, and a small classroom into a world of possibility. What he lacks in materials, he makes up for with heart.
