About Natukunda Treasure

In the quiet hills of Nyamatsinda village, nestled in the Rushaga region of Kisoro, Uganda, lives a bright and joyful 7-year-old girl named Natukunda Treasure, or “Ture,” as her friends and family lovingly call her.

Ture’s laughter is contagious. You’ll often find her skipping rope under the sun or playing netball with children twice her age, her spirit undaunted by the hardships surrounding her. Despite being the youngest of seven siblings, Ture carries a lightness in her heart that shines through even in the most trying moments.

She lives with her mother, Manzobaze Molly, a humble peasant farmer who tirelessly grows enough food for the family. Her father, Byikwaso Stepheen, currently has no stable employment. Every day, it is a struggle to meet even the most basic needs, clean water, medical care, and enough to eat. Yet, in all this, Ture shows up at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School with a smile, eager to learn, grow, and dream.

Ture is in the Baby Class, just starting her educational journey. But without a sponsor, her future is uncertain. Her family cannot afford the school supplies, uniform, and support to keep her in class. What stands between Ture and the future she deserves is not her ability or spirit, but opportunity.

She dreams of staying in school and one day becoming someone who can give back to her community, just as she hopes someone might one day believe in her enough to give her that chance.
