About Nabasa Rajab

In the quiet hills of Nyamatsinda village in Rushaga, Kisoro, Uganda, lives a cheerful little boy with a heart full of wonder and a mind that never stops imagining. His name is Nabasa Rajab, but those who know him best call him "Mayagye", a nickname that reflects his playful spirit and infectious laughter.

At just 5 years old, Rajab already shows signs of a curious and creative mind. He loves building things from sticks and mud, pretending to drive imaginary cars through the winding paths of his village, and grazing goats with his older brother. While other children might dream of toys and cartoons, Rajab dreams of building real houses one day—strong, beautiful ones that will shelter families like his.

Rajab lives with his loving parents, Magezi Julius, a cleaner who earns a humble wage, and Kemigisha Anakileti, a peasant farmer who works tirelessly in the garden to feed her family. Despite their efforts, the family struggles to meet even the most basic needs. With three children, Brian, Brenda, and Melon, they stretch every coin to provide food, clothing, and education.

What they lack in wealth, they make up for in love. But love alone cannot buy books, pencils, or school uniforms. It cannot build the future Rajab deserves.

Thanks to a nearby community initiative, Rajab is now enrolled in Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, a small school planted near his village to bring hope closer to home. There, his eyes light up when he learns new words or draws pictures of the things he dreams of building. But like many children in his community, Rajab's journey is uncertain without help.
