About Irasibuza Baram

Nestled deep in the beautiful, rolling hills of Rushaga, in a quiet village called Nyamatsinda, lives a joyful 9-year-old boy named Irasubiza Baram, affectionately known by his friends and family as Baramu.

Every morning, Baramu wakes up to the sound of birds and the rustling of banana trees outside his family’s humble home. His father, Mutambuka Simon, works hard in stone quarrying—laboring with his hands from sunrise to sunset to feed his family. His mother, Baryezo Vanis, tills a small garden nearby, growing just enough food to get by. Life is difficult, but you’d never guess it from Baramu’s smile.

With six siblings, including three sisters and three brothers, Baramu’s world is filled with laughter, love, and shared dreams. But behind the laughter lies the daily struggle of a family trying to stretch every shilling to cover basic needs, let alone school fees, books, or clothes.

Baramu’s favorite pastime is “driving tires,” a simple game in which he rolls an old tire along the dusty village paths using a stick, pretending it's a race car. He dreams of one day driving a real car, exploring the world beyond his village, and maybe, just maybe, becoming someone who brings change to his community.

Despite the challenges, Baramu has not given up on his dreams. He’s currently enrolled at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, a special school near his village, so children like him could get a chance at education, something his parents never entirely had. His teachers say he’s bright, eager to learn, and kind to everyone around him.

But dreams like Baramu’s need a little help.
