About Akoragye Ignitious

In the quiet hills of Nyamatsinda village in Rushaga, Uganda, lives a bright-eyed 5-year-old boy named Akoragye Ignitous, or as everyone fondly calls him, Ginish. Though small, Ginish carries a world of dreams in his heart.

Every morning, Ginish wakes up to birds and the rustle of wind through the banana trees. His modest home is built with love by his parents, Bukara Innocent and Asiimwe Theopista, who work tirelessly as peasants to provide for their children. With little income and few resources, every day is a struggle to make ends meet. But despite their hardships, the family holds onto one thing stronger than poverty, hope.

Ginish’s joy shines brightest when he’s outside, building small structures from stones and sticks, or racing around with old tires he finds near the garden. His creativity and imagination are boundless. When asked what he wants to be growing up, he shyly says, “I want to build houses... big ones... for my mummy and daddy.”

He recently joined Top Class at Heart 2 Heart Nursery School, a humble but life-changing school built near his village. He holds a pencil in his tiny fingers for the first time, sings the alphabet, and learns to count with wide-eyed wonder. But getting him to school every day is not always easy. With limited resources, his parents struggle to provide necessities like school supplies, a uniform, or even a good meal for him to take.
